John E. Furr, 78, a former resident of the Scott's Prairie & New Liberty neighborhood near here, who resided at 411 E. Market Street Crawfordsville, died at 11:45 a.m. Thurs Aprl 12 at Culver Hospital after a 3 month illness. He was born May 6, 1872 in Scott's Prairie neighborhood, the son of Marshall and Elizzbeth Wilson Furr. He was married to Leta Jane MYERS of near Judson, Jan 18, 1900 who preceded him in death. He was a member of the New Liberty Christian Church. Survivors are two sons, Volney Furr, Stone Bluff and Myrel Furr, Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Watson of near Browns Valley and Mrs. Frances Alexander of Albuquerque, NM a brother, Luke Furr of near Attica; two sisters Mrs. Eva Laird of Covington and Mrs. Ella Marshall of near Yeddo; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the New Liberty Church near here at 2 p.m. Sunday with burial in the Rockfield Cemetery.

Crawfordsville April 13 – Johny E. Furr, 78, died in Culver Hospital yesterday after an illness of 3 months. A native of Fountain County, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, a brother, Luke Furr near attica and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Laird, near Covington and Mrs. Ella Marshall near Yeddo. - kbz
